Hi, I’m Taylor
When I was a kid I said, I want to be a writer, I want to be a photographer. I was told those were just hobbies and I needed to be realistic.
After high school I, kind of randomly, choose to become a pharmacy technician. For 10+ years I worked in retail pharmacy. As much as I loved my job, loved getting to know people in all walks of life, loved learning about the world of pharmacy, met countless interesting people, learned about healthcare and all the aspects of it, I knew I wanted something of my own. I wanted something that I could benefit from that was not a punch in, punch out kind of job. A job where I wasn’t just constantly trying to make a boss happy.
When I landed an amazing job in health insurance where I got to work from home I though ‘This is it! Finally!’ Then a whole year later I finally decided to make it a reality. Everyday I am working towards my dreams of writing about things I love and taking better photos to go along side them.
The Cottage
The Cottage: My husband and I own 10 acres in Northern California with a little Cottage placed right in the middle of the property.
The cottage overlooks the pond where the frogs lay on the bank and sing their song all thru the summer nights alongside the crickets.
After a hot summer, the crisp Fall air creeps in, brings turkeys ducks, and the garden’s harvest.
We watch as the leaves fall in an array of colors and sizes, blanketing the ground in reds, yellows and greens.
The winds grow colder as we enter Winter making the trees bare and the days short.
The rain comes to fill in the seasonal creeks from the highest point down thru the overfilled pond, creating a stream that wraps around the pond creating an amazing green landscape.
Some winters, something very special happens..the snow comes trickling down from the sky in light, white, puffy pieces. You’re reminded what real silence is while the snow falls on all the trees and covers the landscape.
By the end of the cold season the grass is green and lush and you think the ground can’t gain one more ounce of beauty. Then spring appears to completely prove that theory wrong.
The grass turns vibrate green with joy from the sun, all bald spots are filled in with green grass and small ecosystems of plants and little bugs, the daffodils, iris, hydrangea, and wildflowers appear.
Every place you look is captivated by nature’s beauty, the plum trees bloom white and pink, the pomegranate blooms in deep red and the flowers seem to know to take turns blooming for your enjoyment.
The deer grow their antlers and wander around with their little bambis, rabbits run rampant all thru the fields.
This is where I live, this this why this blog is named after and dedicated to our Cottage. Our house, our home, our land, my little Cottage on the Hill.
